Pharaoh’s Body

ONE OF THE most intriguing predictions made by the Holy Qur’aan concerns a Pharaoh of Egypt, Merneptah.

ACCORDING TO historical records, this king was drowned in pursuit of Moosa (alaihis salaam) in the Red Sea.

When the Qur’aan was revealed, the only other mention of him was in the Bible, with reference to his drowning.

THE QUR’AAN said, "Today shall We preserve your body so that you may become a sign to those nations to come." (10:92)
How extraordinary this verse must have appeared; at that time no one knew that his body was intact. Only 1400 years later, in 1898, did it come to light after having lain mummified for 3000 years.

IN THE SEVENTH century the Qur’aan asserted that Pharaoh’s body was preserved, but only in the 19th century did its discovery give concrete proof of this prediction. The Egyptian Museum in Cairo holds this proof of the Qur’aan’s truth.

Hatred Unveiled in France (2004)

FRANCE AND Germany have voted to ban Muslim scarves in schools. It is amazing how a simple cloth can be so intimidating.
Why are politicians, who have more pressing issues, fretting over a seemingly minor one?

PROTESTS
Tens of thousands of people marched to French embassies around the world on January 17, 2004, in protest.
There have been protests in Indonesia, Egypt, Malaysia, Canada, Lebanon, America, Britain and 28 other countries.

GROWING MALICE
While Muslims may view the scarf as a simple part of our lives, others view it as a threat to secularism. Islam, which is opposed to secularism, is an obstacle. Thus, anything Islamic becomes a threat to the godless people who control world affairs.

PROTECTION
"O Prophet, tell your wives and daughters and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their bodies (when abroad) so that they should be known and not molested" (Quran 33:59).The veil is a protection from molestation. If civilization is enough protection, then why do women in America not walk alone in the dark? If education is the solution, then why do universities have a 'walk home service' for females? If self restraint is the answer, then why is there sexual harassment daily in the workplace?
Modesty, and by extension the veil, is prescribed to protect women.
A sample of those accused of sexual harassment in the US, includes: Navy officers, Managers, professors, Senators, Supreme Court Justices, and the President of the United States!
How ironical that the scarf revered as a sign of 'holiness' when worn by Catholic Nuns, is reviled as a sign of 'oppression' when worn by Muslim women.

OBLIGATION
The veil and scarf are not a matter of personal choice but an Islamic obligation. (Holy Qur’aan, 24:30,31).

Book of Wonders

The Holy Qur’aan is the foundation stone of Islamic society and its constitution. The ideal society is one governed by its principles.
IT CONTAINS passages of great beauty. Many non-Muslims have waxed lyrical in praise of the Holy Qur’aan’s style, yet they refuse to accept Islam.
We reproduce here an example of such praise. To a certain extent we have retained the grand sounding words used in an attempt to convey the feeling with which they write about the Noble Qur’aan:

THE CENTRAL MESSAGE of the Holy Qur’aan is to believe in the One God alone. Millions have memorized it, and if, for some reason, all printed copies should vanish, the exact text can be faithfully reproduced from oral tradition.

ENDINGS OF LINKED verses often rhyme, but the verses do not fit the metrical schemes of Arabic poetry, and are not poetry. Nor are they prose.
The depth and range of allusion, both in sound and sense, cannot be reproduced in translation, but can be appreciated even by those unfamiliar with Arabic by listening to a recording of a Qur’aan recitation.

THE STYLE OF THE Holy Qur’aan is so striking and so different from other literary works that it is characterized as inimitable.
Numerous attempts at trying to imitate it were all doomed to failure over a vast space of over 14 centuries.

AN ESSENTIAL DIFFERENCE between the Holy Qur’aan and the present-day Christian and Jewish scriptures is that the latter are accompanied by extensive footnotes listing large number of variations in reading.
The text of the Holy Qur’aan has no such scholarly apparatus as it does not differ in any respect from the text fixed by Caliph Uthmaan (radhiallahu anhu) from the Companions of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), who learned the verses by heart as they were revealed.

Size of the Universe

The stars we see are in the lowest heaven:
And We adorned the lowest heaven with lamps (stars)… [Qur’aan 67:5]
NASA says it is fighting an uphill battle to reach the edge of the universe. More powerful equipment is constructed only to discover that the new stars we see are still within our galaxy.

Seeing the limits of the universe:
So turn thy vision again: Do you see any flaw? Again turn your vision a second time: (your) vision will come back to you dull and discomfited, in a state worn out.
[Holy Qur’aan 67:3-4]
According to C Backberg in Popular Mechanics [Feb 2004] estimates give our universe a diameter of 100 billion light years. The visible universe has a radius of 13,3 billion light years and circumference of 84 billion light years (800 thousand billion kilometres!).

The Holy Qur’aan explained the massive dimensions of the universe 1400 years before modern science.

IT’S A MIRACLE!

Honey

According to Western research, honey can heal wounds. It is a natural antiseptic. Honey contains high levels of sucrose in it which inhibit the growth of bacteria.
(Reader’s Digest, July 2004)

The Holy Qur’aan told us 1400 years ago that: There comes from the bellies of bees a drink of different colours wherein is healing for men. [See Al Qur’aan 16:68-69]

Blood and Pork

APART FROM THE QUR’AANIC PROHIBITION OF BLOOD AND PORK, THERE ARE OTHER INTERESTING FACTS:

POISON BLOOD
An analysis of blood shows a lot of uric acid, a substance which can be injurious to health. In humans 98% of uric acid is extracted by the kidneys and removed through excretion.

EXCELLENT CUT
The Islamic way of slaughtering animals means cutting the jugular veins, wind and food pipes leaving other veins and organs intact. This causes death by total loss of blood rather than injury to any vital organ. If the heart or brain was damaged, blood would congeal in the veins and permeate the flesh. The flesh would be contaminated with uric acid and poisonous.

PORK
A pig cannot be slaughtered at the neck due to its anatomy. Thus, the exit of harmful blood cannot be totally accomplished. Further, the pig’s biochemistry excretes only 2% uric acid. The rest remains an integral part of its body. The pig is also host to diseases.

Mountains in the Qur’aan

The Qur'an draws attention to aN important geological function of mountains:
We placed firmly embedded mountains on the earth, so it would not move under them… (Surat al-Anbiya', 31)
We learn that mountains have the function of preventing shocks in the Earth.
This was brought to light only recently as a result of the findings of modern geology.
According to this, mountains emerge as a result of the movements and collisions of massive plates forming the Earth's crust. When two plates collide, the stronger one slides under the other, the one on the top bends and forms heights and mountains. The layer beneath goes under the ground and makes a deep extension downward. Thus mountains have a portion stretching downwards, as large as their visible parts on the Earth.
In a verse, this role of the mountains is pointed out by a comparison with "pegs":
Have We not made the earth as a bed and the mountains its pegs? (Surat an-Naba', 6-7)
Mountains, in other words, clench the plates in the Earth's crust together by extending above and beneath the Earth's surface. In this way, they fix the Earth's crust, and prevent it from drifting. We may liken mountains to nails that keep pieces of wood together.
This vital role of mountains, that was discovered by modern geology and seismic research, was revealed in the Qur'an centuries ago.

It’s A Miracle!

Creation from Water

Allah created every [living] creature from water…
(Qur'an, 24:45)
And it is He Who created human beings from water
(Qur'an, 25:54)

One of the scientific miracles in the Qur’aan is of the creation of living things from water. It was only possible for people to come by that information, clearly expressed in those verses, hundreds of years afterwards with the invention of the microscope.
If water loss takes place in the body for any reason, and if that loss is not made good, death will result in a few days. Water is the main component of organic matter. 50-90% of the weight of living things consists of water appear regularly in encyclopaedias. Furthermore, 80% of the cytoplasm (basic cell material) of a standard animal cell is described as water in biology textbooks. The analysis of cytoplasm and its appearance in textbooks took place hundreds of years after the revelation of the Qur'an.
Attention was drawn to the fact that all living things were made from water in the Qur'an hundreds of years before its discovery.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows Best

THE LOST CITY

In the 1990s the Lost city of Ubar was found. This city was referred to in the Qur’an. Many thought that it was a legend. Pictures taken by NASA showed caravan trails which converged at a city covered in sand. This city belonged to ‘Ad and Iram’s pillars because towers were found. Towers were the distinctive feature of Ubar, and Iram was mentioned with towers or pillars in the Qur’an. This was proof that it was Iram, the city of ‘Ad in the Qur’an.
The Qur’an says: Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars, The like of which were not produced in (all) the land? (Surat al-Fajr: 6-8)

Miracle Book: Roman Defeat

An astonishing revelation that the Qur'an gives about the future is found in Sura Rum, referring to the Byzantine Empire, the eastern Roman Empire. In these verses it is stated that the Byzantine Empire had met with a great defeat, but that it would soon gain victory:
Alif, Lam, Mim. The Romans have been defeated in the lowest land, but after their defeat they will themselves be victorious in a few years' time... (Sura Rum, 1-4)
This was revealed around 620 CE, seven years after the defeat of Byzantium by the Persians. Yet the verses stated that Byzantium would shortly be victorious. Byzantium had suffered such heavy losses that it seemed impossible for it even to survive, let alone be victorious. Not only the Persians, but others posed serious threats to it. The empire was on the point of collapse. Many areas were invaded by the Persians.
Everyone was expecting the Byzantine Empire to be destroyed. But at that moment, the verses of Sura Rum were revealed, announcing that Byzantium would triumph. This seemed so impossible that Arab polytheists made fun of these verses.
Around seven years after this, in 627 CE, a battle between Byzantium and the Persian Empire was fought. And this time the Byzantine army unexpectedly defeated the Persians. Later, the Persians made an agreement, obliging them to return the territories they had taken.
"The victory of the Romans," Allah proclaimed in the Qur'an, miraculously came true.

THE PHARAOH

In the Old Testament of the Bible, the Egyptian ruler during the period of Prophet Ibrahim and Yusuf alaihimas salaam are named ‘Pharaoh.’ However, this title was actually used after the eras in which these two prophets lived.
While speaking of the Egyptian ruler at the time of Prophet Yusuf alaihis salaam, the word ‘Al-Malik’ in Arabic is used in the Qur'an: It refers to a ruler, king or sultan:The King said, ‘Bring him to me straight away!'… (Qur'an, 12:50)
But the ruler of Egypt in the time of Prophet Musa alaihis salaam is referred to as ‘Pharaoh.’ This distinction in the Qur'an is not made in the Old and New Testaments nor by Jewish historians. In the Bible, the word ‘Pharaoh’ is used, in every reference to an Egyptian monarch. On the other hand, the Qur'an is far more concise and accurate in the terminology it employs.
The use of the word ‘Pharaoh’ in Egyptian history belongs only to the late period. This particular title began to be employed in the 14th century BC, during the reign of Amenhotep IV. Prophet Yusuf alaihis salaam lived at least 200 years before that time. Encyclopaedia Britannica says that the word ‘Pharaoh’ was a title of respect used from the New Kingdom (beginning with the 18th dynasty; BC 1539-1292) until the 22nd dynasty (BC 945-730), after which this term of address became the title of the king. The Academic American Encyclopaedia states that the title of ‘Pharaoh’ began to be used in the New Kingdom (after Prophet Yusuf alaihis salaam).
The Qur'an distinguishes between the different Egyptian titles in different Egyptian eras. Neither the Bible nor Jewish scripts makes this distinction. This is yet another proof that the Qur'an is Allah's word.
