HAZRAT ASMAA RADHIALLAHU ANHA

Her name was Asmaa. Her father was Abu Bakr radhiallahu anhu, her mother Qatlah and her sister Aisha radhiallahu anha, wife of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. She was born in Makkah, 27 years before Hijrat.
She married Zubair ibn Awaam radhiallahu anhu and was the 18th person to accept Islam. She prepared the luggage and meals for the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam and Abu Bakr radhiallahu anhu when they left on Hijrat. She used her sheet which she wore around her waist to tie the food parcel and earned the title Zaatun Nitaaqain. On making Hijrat she stayed at Quba and her son Abdullah Ibn Zubair radhiallahu anhuma was born. She took him to the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam who did his Tahneek and prayed for him. She stayed with Abdullah when he grew up as her husband had divorced her.
Her son Abdullah refused to pledge allegiance to Yazid because of Yazid’s low character. Abdullah then ruled parts of the Muslim empire. When Abdul Malik’s forces besieged him at the Ka’bah he asked his mother, Asmaa, for advice. She told him to die fighting which he did. His body was hung on a cross for many days and was flung into a Jewish graveyard. Asmaa got the mutilated body, washed it and read Janazah Salaah. She passed away a week later in 73 AH at the age of 100. She had 7 children: Abdullah, Munzir, Urwah, Muhajir, Khadijatul Kubra, Ummul Hassan and Aisha. She quoted 56 Hadith, and was not fearful in standing up for the truth in front of the Khalifah. She went on several Hajj, the first with the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. She and her husband were initially poor and she used to work very hard. She gave a lot in charity when her wealth increased.
She had a long shirt of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam which she used to wash and give the water to ill family members to drink and he or she would be cured.
