SOSATIES are a favourite SA dish. The origins are yet another indication of the contribution of Muslims to this country.
The sosatie, or kebab as it is sometimes called, came with Muslim Malay slaves and political prisoners.
The word itself comes from Malay: saté meaning spiced sauce; and sésate meaning meat on a skewer.
