FIRST CLOTHES
Historians state that Prophet Idrees (alaihis salaam) was the first person to sew garments of cloth. Before that, man used animal skin as his garb. (Al Awaail liSuyuti pg 85)
OLD CLOTHES
It is the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that when he used to get new clothes he would donate his old clothes. The Hadith states that the person who clothes any poor Muslim remains in the Security (and Protection) of Allah as long as a single piece (even one thread) remains on somebody’s body.
This is the reward for donating old clothes. How much more will be the reward if one donates new clothes?
WINTER WARMTH PROJECT
An easy way to earn reward is to use Winter as an excuse to do social work. Umar (radhiallahu anhu) used to embark on a Winter Warmth Progran annually, encouraging Muslims to keep warm and ensuring that they had sufficient woollen socks, jerseys, etc.
This is an easy way to practice on the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and his Companions.
WARMTH OF ISLAM
As a Muslim minority, this affords us the opportunity to extend the warmth of Islam to those in need. With Winter Warmth projects we can donate blankets, heaters, soup kitchens, etc.
Allah helps that person who aids his fellow human being
