Best Lifestyle: Clothes

The lifestyle of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is the best, most well-documented of any person on earth. We reproduce a few of his habits with the hope that readers will be enthranced with them and emulate them to the best of their abilities.

TYPES OF CLOTHES
These are some types of clothes worn by the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam):

  • Qamees (Kurta). He liked this the most. He wore ones made of cotton, Qibti Qamees (not very long, with narrow sleeves made of Egyptian linen of fine quality).
  • Jubbah (Robe). He wore a wollen Roman Jubbah.
  • Sometimes he wore expensive garments for Fridays, Eid or when receiving special delegations.
  • Burnus (Hood). A hat attached to a garment, usually worn in winter.
  • Cloth. He was buried in 2 pieces of Yemeni cloth. He loved decorated Yemeni garments the most. He liked striped cloth.
  • Sheets: woollen, black, furry, green or red-striped, Syrian
  • Qalansuwa (hat/topi): white, Egytian, green-striped, tall, dome-shaped worn on journeys.
  • Lungi (unstitched sheet wrapped around the lower body).
  • A cloth resembling the commonly worn scarves.
  • He owned a trouser which he might have worn.
  • Turban.
