How Many Litres Do I Use?

It has been conservatively estimated that on average most people use more than six litres of water for one wudhu. This is in stark contrast to the amount of water that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) used for his wudhu.
Aisha (radhiallahu anha) reports that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) used one mudd of water for wudhu and one saa for ghusal. (Abu Dawood).

THE PROPHET (SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WA SALLAM) USED:
1 Mudd (1.03ltr) for Wudhu
WE USE:
6 litres for Wudhu
THE PROPHET SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WA SALLAM USED:
1 Saa (4.1ltrs) for Ghusl (Bath)
WE USE:
???

One mudd = approx 1.03 litres
one saa = approx 4.1 litres

In other words, we use more water for wudhu than the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) used for ghusal.
Once Jaabir (radhiallahu anhu) narrated the saying of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that one mudd of water suffices for wudhu and one saa for ghusal. A person remarked: "It does not suffice for me." Jaabir (radhiallahu anhu) silenced him by saying: "It sufficed for him [the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)] who was better than you and who even had more hair than you" (hence he would require more water than you to wash the head during ghusal). (Ibn Majah).
