Allah nominated the story of Yusuf (alaihis salaam) from the entire book of Guidance, the Qur’aan, for the title of Most Beautiful of Stories. In it are many messages for those who search for the truth. (Qur’aan 12:7) Here are some of those messages:
Yusuf (alaihis salaam)’s brothers plotted to banish him and they used the pretext of sport and play to execute their grand plan, saying to their father: Send him with us tomorrow, to enjoy himself and play. Is sport not used today to distract people from the real world, from real jobs and real lives? Have sports stadiums become the new shrines of our culture? We are bewitched by sport though it has become synonymous with violence, drugs, fornication, gambling and match fixing.
Yusuf (alaihis salaam)’s brothers sold him into slavery for a miserable price: And they sold him for an insignificant price; a mere few silver coins. In this day and age youth are almost always the pawns used in a lucrative drug trade. Their precious human lives are sold for miserable gains to the slavery of the drug trade.
But he in whose house he (Yusuf) was sought to seduce him; she bolted the door and said: ’Now come to me.’ Despite having all the opportunity and being invited to commit adultery, Yusuf (alaihis salaam) refused infidelity. We are in a highly electrified sexual environment. Know that Allah sees what you do. There is no such thing as a platonic relationship: intermingling of the sexes leads to adultery. Save yourself from this hollow deception of gloom coated in pleasure.
