Allah nominated the story of Yusuf (alaihis salaam) from the entire book of Guidance, the Qur’aan, for the title of Most Beautiful of Stories. In it are many messages for those who search for the truth. (Qur’aan 12:7) Here are some of those messages:
Remember when Yusuf told his father ‘O my beloved father, I have seen 11 stars, the sun and the moon—I saw them prostraing to me. Yusuf (alaihis salaam) was 12 years old and saw a dream which confused and puzzled him. Who did he confide in? His father. The challenge to youth is to forge a relationship with their parents where they can talk openly to them. Parents also need to open and cultivate these lines of communication.
The brothers of Yusuf (alaihis salaam) connived to kill him: Kill Yusuf or else drive him away to some (distant) land. When youth choose wrong company they succumb to peer pressure to do evil. Likewise, when youthly energy is channelled in the wrong direction, great harm takes place.
And after this is done you will be free to repent and become pious. This is the daily deception of the devil. He incites us towards sin by telling us that we need do the sin only once, then we will repent. This never happens. One sin always leads to another and the soul is never satiated nor content after committing sin. The Qur’aan says that the devil beautifies the (evil) actions of man, thus sin always fills the perpetrator with a temporary pleasure and is pleasant to do in the short term: listening to music, watching videos, smoking, taking drugs, illicit boy/girl interaction, etc.
