BEARD OF THE PROPHET SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WA SALLAM

The lifestyle of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is the best, most well-documented of any person.

How the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam’s beard was and how he kept it:
His beard was dense and thick.
He had a long beard and long hair.
His beard was black.
Towards the end of his life, a few strands of white hair appeared.
It is sunnah to comb the beard as the Prophet sallallahu alaihi did this.
He used to apply oil to his beard.
He used to look in the mirror when combing his beard.
A comb and miswaak always remained with him. Thus, to carry a comb is sunnah.
He directed that the beard be kept neat.
He would apply water to his beard and arrange it neatly on a daily basis.
He used to apply musk perfume to his beard and head.
He dyed his beard with saffron or Waras leaves. Saffron is generally applied to the beard for its fragrance rather than its colour.
He would clutch his beard when overcome with anxiety or grief.
It is sunnah to trim the beard if it is too long. It is not permissible to shorten it less than a fist length.
